Artist's Statement about this work: In my brother's house there is a window that lets in the most beautiful morning light! My mom, Laurel Hart, and I like to set up still lifes and take pictures of them to paint for later. The lighting on these 2 lemons was spectacular and I love how watercolor can capture that light so well!

Artist's Statement about this work: As I was bicycling through European villages, I came upon the fluffiest sheep I have ever seen lying in a bed of wild violets. When I stopped to take her photograph, she posed as if she knew how glorious she was. I knew she had to be the star of a painting; thus the painting "Violet" was born.

Artist's Statement about this work: I am drawn to this view often and decided to paint a watercolor of what I saw this summer. I love the interplay of shapes and colors on this view of a part of the mountain. The view is common but uncommon and so beautiful when you really look at it.

Artist's Statement about this work: Near Concepcion, Chile is this interesting small island with a single tree growing on it called Pino Huacho en Ramuntcho. It's a reminder that regardless of your situation in life, you can always find a way to flourish.

Artist's Statement about this work: This is the view I see often if Cascade Mountain and when I painted this watercolor of it I wanted to capture the clouds going in front of it. I love it when I see this mountain and pause to appreciate its grandeur.

Artist's Statement about this work: Patterns on paper that say people. Doesn’t have to be complicated to read as people and so fun to put those shapes down. You can capture the movement and body language with a few strokes.

Artist's Statement about this work: Landscapes are such an interesting subject to paint because they change every day! I especially love how a low horizon and big clouds evoke different emotions. This painting features thick white watercolor to add some texture and depth to the clouds.

Artist's Statement about this work: I love the design element of the shadow on this building in Peru. The slope of the walls add a strength to the buildings. There is beauty in the fine work of the rock.

Artist's Statement about this work: "Analogous": A Window to My Artistic Inspiration A cherished childhood memory—a stained glass window in a church, alive with color—sparked my latest artwork, "Analogous." This piece, measuring 6.25 by 6.5 inches, is an exploration of vibrant energy and warmth through watercolor on 140 lb paper. "Analogous" presents an abstract composition of flowing, leaf-like shapes intertwining in a brilliant spectrum: shades of red, orange, yellow, blue, and purple collaborate in seamless harmony. The background shifts from deep orange to yellow, adding to the piece's dynamic warmth. Smooth blending of the colors creates movement and life within this intimate frame. Capturing the luminosity of that long-ago stained glass within such a compact space was an exhilarating challenge. Every brushstroke in "Analogous" connects me to that vivid memory, revitalizing it through art. In this piece, I invite you to rediscover moments of connection and reflection.

Artist's Statement about this work: "Yellow-headed Blackbird" is a captivating watercolor piece that showcases a harmonious blend of vivid colors and delicate details. Measuring 3.5 inches in width and 9.5 inches in height, this painting draws the viewer into a serene scene where nature's beauty takes center stage. A striking yellow bird perches gracefully among slender branches adorned with delicate pink blossoms. Its vibrant yellow feathers stand in bold contrast to the black details that define its features, making the bird a mesmerizing focal point. The soft pink hues of the blossoms lend a gentle and harmonious touch to the composition, enriching the overall aesthetic with a sense of tranquility and balance. Artist's Statement about this work: This is Conrad's second opportunity to paint at Snow Canyon State Park in Utah. This trip from Bountiful to St George was over the 3-day Veterans holiday, Monday, November 11th. The hope was to start and finish two paintings - but that didn't happen. In the morning, a friend, Jani Stratten, took us on a tour of her favorite places in the park. It took longer than we had planned. Conrad scouted this location last February, 150 yards north of where the dry creek bed crosses the main road through the park. By the time he got settled in to paint it was later than he'd planned and there wasn't much November sun left in the narrow wash.

By reducing the subject to its most basic form, the work invites contemplation on the profound impact of stillness and the silent narrative carried by a single, understated presence. Through this simplicity, I aim to highlight the richness of humankind and the complexity that can be found in the most minimal of representations.
